Welcome to the Society for East Asian Anthropology (SEAA) Online Dictionary of Keywords in Anthropology. This site offers English-Chinese and Chinese-English translations of anthropological terms. We follow the Wiktionary spirit, rules and standards as much as possible.
This page has terms in English, and offers glosses and discussion of these terms in Chinese. For the list of Chinese terms and English glosses, start from here 人類學詞彙維基辭典
Initial data for this project comes from the 中譯人類學詞彙 edited by Prof. HSIEH Jiann 謝劍 and published by the Chinese University Press in 1980 (now out of print). Prof. Hsieh and the Press have kindly given permission for their work to be used as the initial basis for this online dictionary, and we wish to thank their generosity.
This online dictionary was established with support from Dept. of Anthropology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The site is generously hosted by Harvard University.
You can edit this page and other pages. We recommend that you offer suggestions and raise issues in the Discussion areas, and edit the page when you are sure of your correction and when you can add to the dictionary. Please see the information on the format and standards of this site.
The syntax is available at: http://wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:syntax.
A help video demonstrating how to add entries is available.
Feel free to add and modify the entries. Enjoy!
